Medicare regulations state that all items and non-physician services furnished to inpatients must be furnished directly by the hospital or billed through the hospital under arrangements. Despite these guidelines, a recent report identified millions of dollars paid to outpatient hospitals for services that were provided while the beneficiary was an inpatient at another facility. In this course, we will discuss hospital bundling, correct billing and ways to avoid improper payments.
