Medicare uses the benefit period as a tool to measure the use of Part A benefits. A benefit period is a period of consecutive days during which covered inpatient services may be available to a beneficiary. Within each benefit period, Medicare allows coverage for a certain number of inpatient days depending on the type of facility. This presentation covers:
