This applies to specific services provided by entities wholly owned or wholly operated by the inpatient facility. The entities provided the services either during, the day of, or 3 calendar days prior to an admission. An Office of Inspector General (OIG) audit reports Medicare paid millions in overpayments in violation of this provision.
