This training is intended for our J5/J8 Part A/B providers billing on a UB-04/CMS-1500 or electronic equivalent.
Providers are expected to know when a service is covered by Medicare. The service may be deemed preventive, medically necessary, not medically necessary, or excluded by law. This teleconference is designed to help providers and staff understand the differences and locate the necessary information to make the determination of which category their services fall into. We will also discuss some of the forms and rules that apply to these different services. This teleconference contains information on:
• Excluded services
• Medically necessary versus not medically necessary services
• Resources to understand if a service is a Medicare covered service
• Preventive care services (general overview)
• Forms needed after determining the above
Note: This teleconference is intended for people with under 1 year of Medicare experience or those wishing to review Medicare; therefore it does not contain in-depth information and is designed to be an overview.
