This On-Demand course is intended for our J5/J8 Part A/B providers billing on a UB-04/CMS-1500 or their electronic equivalent.
The date and time listed in the registration section are system completed place holders. This course is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
WPS GHA has consistently made what we consider a high rate of dismissal decisions. Based on analysis, the driving factor in the high rate is that some providers are requesting appeals with the wrong contractor. While often the cause appears to be simply confusion over the steps of the appeals process and the parties involved, we have also noted some other reasons for dismissal decisions. Additionally, we are seeing an increase in the number of duplicate appeal requests due to lack of knowledge about the CMS guidelines for rendering appeal decisions.
At the end of this course providers will be able to:
Identify why dismissal decisions occur
Appropriately file appeal request
Understand the CMS guidelines for rendering appeal decisions
In order to successfully complete the course, the learner will need to download the Reference materials from the Reference Materials tab within the course before getting started.
This course contains two handouts and questions to test your knowledge. Please review the instructions for each module below before completing the course.
