This training is intended for our J5/J8 Part B providers billing on a CMS-1500 or electronic equivalent.

The American Medical Association (AMA) made changes to choosing a level of service for the Evaluation and Management procedure codes 99202 – 99215. There were effective for services January 1, 2021, and after. You can use time or the medical decision-making (MDM) table to choose your code. Time can include both face-to-face and non-face-to-face time. The MDM consists of three components:
• Number and Complexity of Problems Addressed
• Amount and/or Complexity of Data to be Reviewed and Analyzed
• Risk of Complications and/or Morbidity or Mortality of Patient Management
The presentation will include the following modules:
• General Overview
• Time – Using and documenting time
• Extended care service
• Medical Decision-Making (MDM) Overview
• Number and Complexity of Problems Addressed
• Amount and/or Complexity of Data to be Reviewed and Analyzed
• Risk of Complications and/or Morbidity or Mortality of Patient Management
• Add-on Complexity
• Procedure code 99211
